How about this for a question........Can a person be a 'pro gambler' (Casino, table games) and be in the red year after year? Can that person still be considered a pro?

" Pro gambler "? That`s a misnomer . A chap like him is better referred to as a professional dork.

Agreed he is technically a pro because he is attempting to make a living off it, but if he is in the red after a whole year you have to ask into it a little more, is he in the red because he is spending all his set aside winnings and in the red by a buck or is he a pro dork and feeding more and more in and still in the red.. example, I might be in the red for my set aside gambling money by a few thousand because I was in the black but used that black to buy a new car cash?

Most likely a pro dork yelling give me the yo! LOL

Professional gambling is harder to do in many ways now, because of a shrinking middle class. There are young people that could be making $30000 in gambling wins and be fine in their life.

The average person in the USA is making almost $44000 US.

So a professional gambler would have different goals for those that are single, and those that have children, a spouse and so on.

I think when you get into 6 and 7 figure gamblers, you could still be a professional gambler and still have a losing year, but have back up money from writing books, doing interviews, guest appearances and so on, to have an income from off the tables coming in.

It's better for me to be a gambler, and keep my day job, so I can work at having 2 incomes, instead of just one.

Wash002, we recently have in this province one of those IGT roulette machines with a $1-$100 limit to them. You could play your roulette methods on this machine, but because it's made by a video slot company, you may want to venture carefully into heavier wagers.

The play looks random enough, but it's up to you to personally decide.I'm willing to set aside some money to run some proven methods at it and see how I fair at it.

All the best to all of you guys, and don't be afraid to gamble in Canada too.

I've been playing on those machines as of late. The one big issue.....there is not much bounce/scatter. The ball basically DROPS (hard) into whatever pocket. Is that a big deal? I'm not real sure. Also, you can not bet on the 0/2 split OR the 00/2 split, if needed.

MrJ.The Shufflemaster roulette machines don't bounce much and the ball seems to get close to the 0 and 00 areas more often.
With the IGT, I have found that the ball does scatter, but it's made by IGT that makes video slots.

It's about how true these machines play to what we would expect from the table games.

There are good machines out there, and there are some really bad paying machines.

We seem to get the American machines 6-24 months later when the machines are new to the market place.

I have an active year of travels to see where the best gambles are, and sometimes have some friends along to cut costs and to be apart of winning too.

Are you living in Las Vegas these days Mr J? How is your professional gambling going for you?

Having baccarat, craps, blackjack, Pai Gow Poker, limit poker, some roulette as your games, you could do well with the proper bankroll.

Good luck with it.

I only play roulette (with a high BR) and I live in Milwaukee, never been to LV or AC but am looking into moving to Reno. It might be kind of a waste ONLY playing roulette because at my casino here (a 15 minute drive) we pretty much have EVERY game known to man, I think. The thing I notice regarding the IGT machine, are all the repeating numbers.

I know some here will tell me....it only looks that way, its all in my head etc. but I'm telling ya, the repeaters sure come in LOTS of clusters. I'm not saying that every number with 2 hits, hits another 4 times. I am saying, if there are numbers with 3 hits (within 15 spins) they keep on hiting for the next 25-30 spins.

Its one spin every 62 seconds so that speeds up the game quite nicely. I also notice this......when the ball hits the first diamond, it NEVER makes it around the wheel from that point. I dont know how heavy that ball is but at least HERE, that damn ball makes a THUMP of a noise when it lands.

Mr.J.The best gambling opportunities tend to be in Atlantic City, Las Vegas, Reno and Foxwoods/Mohegan Sun, from my own personal researching.

For my personal gambling, I am looking at a 6 hour radius one way to gamble.

Roulette as mentioned on here in the past, should be a back up game, looking for trends and not as a main game.I find that other players agree with what was originally posted on here about that and how the mathematics of the game backs that.

If you do want to play a serious game of roulette, then you would want to go to Lac Leamy casino in Gatineau.

I have a link for your Wisconsin casinos, the ones that Phil Hellmuth Jr would have considered or did play at.

http://wisconsin.casinocity.com/

I personally like Harrah's for an American casino. They give good comps, good service, good limits, the place attracts single women, and the casino is near a lot of non-casino activity.

The limit spreads would be a concern for the games one plays. Some limits are too tight and just not worth the risk of money to play.

I wanted John Patrick's personal opinion about limit spreads, because his gambling knowledge over the years, would help a lot of veteran and new gamblers out a lot.

Just observing craps recently, showed me that I could be down or up $200 on one lap around the table, at my current betting level.

The goal is still to be green-purple chip in gambling, to combat rising costs of travel.

I agree with your findings on roulette.

With playing high stakes roulette in the U.S.A, that could come down to negotiations with the casino on their min and max limits on their single 0 games.

Blackjack is the game the American casinos are in love with, roulette is for Europeans and Poker seems to be what Canadian loves a lot here.

Just keep going after those percentage wins, and have fun doing it too.

Look me up if you're in Ontario for gambling.

Just curious in wondering if a person declared himself to be
a "professional" there is NO WAY he would ever consider playing
Roulette. WHY? - Because the game of Baccarat is much better.
In Baccarat either Player wins or Banker wins thats it. In Roulette, all even money bets lose to a "O" or "OO"
OF course someone will say "unless you bet on O or OO" But
I'm talking about a pure professional who wants the best
shot - it's Baccarat.
